Pay Rate: $68.2 - $109.12 per hour

As a successful candidate, you will:

Epic Clinical Systems Pharmacist is a subject matter expert that works independently to manage pharmacy modules and components of the EHR, clinical decision support and pharmacy-specific information systems associated with medication use. They participate in a collaborative effort with key contributors and other informatics pharmacists, to design and develop effective pharmacy workflow, operational processes and system functions to drive optimal outcomes and efficiencies. They support leadership decision making by data gathering and conducting sophisticated analysis. They implement change to align with patient safety, strategic and regulatory goals. They are effective communicators for varying audiences from clinicians to executive leadership and vendors.

They develop and maintain close relationships with key contributors, which include system and operational leadership, front line staff, governance groups, multi-disciplinary staff, and vendors. They collaborate to prioritize demands, set appropriate expectations, establish appropriate metrics and targets, and manage change implementation.

Responsibilities: 

  • Serves as a system resource for new installations, conversions, and general maintenance needs.
  • Helps to lead others toward established industry best practices, standards, and quality guidelines. 
  • Maintains a positive image when dealing with department personnel and other City of Hope employees. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Provides technical and application expertise and recommends processes and/or procedures for enhancements, and modifications to improve existing pharmacy systems.
  • Responds to improvement needs in the functional operation of the pharmacy computer systems.
  • Collaborates and documents system design and workflow processes of system needs for clinical management, staff, and providers.
  • Functions as a liaison between these stakeholders and the system build teams.
  • Provides technical and application expertise to design, analyze, and optimize clinical information systems.
  • Ensures system design achieves Health System objectives of standardization, integration, and efficiency and supports compliance with policies and procedures, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Shares knowledge and expertise with team members.
  • Works collaboratively with the education team to develop change communication and training materials. Obtains approval where required.
  • Performs routine maintenance; assists with testing updates and new releases prior to production use.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all system and departmental policies and procedures. Maintains compliance with annual safety and competency testing.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for following ETG change control best practices.
  • Manage multiple projects and assignments
  • Communicate to key stakeholders, leaders, and staff on timelines, system features, impacts to workflows
  • Maintains working knowledge for regulatory, safety, and patient care topics to ensure systems meet the requirements
  • Participate in pharmacy staff development, including new employee orientation
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Your qualifications should include: 

  • Pharm.D. or B.S. in Pharmacy
  • EPIC Willow Certified (InPatient)
  • 5 years of pharmacy with clinical experience including: 
  • 1 year of experience in the delivery of client-facing applications support service
  • 1 year of Information Technology related support.
