The successful candidate:

Under the Director's direct supervision the Program Manager, oversees and organizes comprehensive volunteer programs within their assigned region or entity. Provides leadership and direction to volunteers within assigned region or entity, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and engagement.  Program Manager serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers, medical center staff, and community partnerships within their region or entity.  This role supports City of Hope in realizing the vision of providing world-renowned supportive care services to all City of Hope's patients, families, and community.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of Volunteer Program within the assigned region or entity.

  • Develop and monitor key performance metrics of assigned region or entity.

  • Maintain specialized knowledge regarding Volunteer Management as a professional industry to serve as a subject matter expert for various committees.

  • Collaborates with internal clients to coordinate requests and needs assessments within their assigned region or entity.

  • Identifies new recruitment sources, including community partners, online platforms, and other methods for promoting volunteer opportunities within assigned region or entity.

  • Routinely rounds on clients at each region or entity to ensure they have the tools, training, and support to lead volunteers in their department.

  • Routinely rounds on volunteers at each region or entity to ensure they have the tools, training, and engage in their volunteer assignment.

  • Able to interpret and apply federal and state labor law to enterprise policies and procedures to ensure the appropriate use of volunteers.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training and engagement within their assigned region or entity.

  • Regularly audits the quality of onboarding, training, annual compliance, and administrative records-keeping systems to ensure that region or entity assigned meets or exceeds professional and legal standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Spearheads collaboration with hospital leaders to develop, design, expand and/or support effective volunteer operations.

  • Remains informed and up to date on all Joint Commission requirements related to the program and the program's partners.

  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to maintain certification/licensure, and/or keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

  • Coordinates volunteer and client engagement activities aimed at improving patient, staff, and employee satisfaction.

  • As needed, assists department Director in supporting key projects.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, health administration, human resources, or related field.

  • Five years working in an oncology/healthcare setting.

  • Five years working directly with volunteers in a professional healthcare setting.

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience supporting program design/management.

  • Experience in volunteering and recruitment preferred

  • Working knowledge of databases preferred, including Samaritan and Epic.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; customer-service training and experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in teaching, modeling training in healthcare or other service industry.

  • Ability to address needs in real-time in support of patient, volunteer and staff experience.

  • Ability to multi-task with a number of projects and priorities.
