The successful candidate:
Schedule: Alternating Weeks
Week 1: Five 8-hour shifts with 2 days off
Week 2: Four 10-hour shifts with 3 days off
Days off will vary based on shift coverage needs
Position Summary:
The Senior Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all patients, staff, volunteers, visitors, students, equipment, and property at COH, Chicago. This role requires a proactive and professional approach to maintaining a secure healthcare environment and responding to incidents with sound judgment and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and secure hospital premises through regular patrols and surveillance.
Respond to incidents involving physical violence or active threats.

Document all incidents through detailed report writing, including:
Lost and found
Alarms
Disruptive or unruly individuals
Vandalism, theft, or other security concerns
Collaborate with hospital staff and emergency responders as needed.
Support and mentor junior security officers as a senior team member.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License
Certifications (Required or Obtainable):
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (CPR/AED) within 6 months of hire
Eligibility to carry a concealed firearm under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) of 2004, or ability to obtain eligibility through the State of Illinois within 90 days of hire
Maintain current firearms qualification under LEOSA
Maintain a valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card (Illinois residents only)
