The successful candidate:

Schedule: Alternating Weeks

  • Week 1: Five 8-hour shifts (2 days off)

  • Week 2: Four 10-hour shifts (3 days off)
    Days off vary based on coverage needs

Position Summary:
The Senior Security Officer plays a key role in ensuring the safety of patients, staff, visitors, and property at City of Hope. This position requires a proactive, professional approach to maintaining a secure healthcare environment and responding to incidents with sound judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol and monitor hospital grounds and facilities

  • Respond to incidents involving physical threats or emergencies

  • Document incidents including lost and found, alarms, disruptive behavior, theft, and vandalism

  • Collaborate with staff and emergency responders

  • Provide guidance and support to junior officers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior law enforcement or military experience within the past 5 years

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license

Certifications (Required or Obtainable):

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – within 6 months of hire

  • Eligibility to carry a concealed firearm under LEOSA (2004) or ability to obtain within 90 days

  • Maintain current firearms qualification under LEOSA

  • Valid FOID card (for Illinois residents)
