Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.
With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. A California registered technician who is responsible for assisting pharmacists in the operational aspects of the department on a 7-day/week, every other week (7 nights on/7 nights off) basis. The individual, under the supervision of a Pharmacist, packages, prepares and compounds oral medications, intravenous medications, and Chemotherapy/Biohazard medications. This position also maintains control procedures, performs inventory, and stock control.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Performs sterile compounding technician functions accurately and thoroughly.
Ensure compliance with USP 797 & 800 at all times.
Utilize proper aseptic technique for all pharmaceutical mixing.
Order, receive, and maintain accurate medication inventory.
Coordinate with Specialty Pharmacies or manufactures for timely deliveries of medications for infusion.
Performs routine daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning as required
Procure and maintain supplies necessary for daily mixing operation
Supports pharmacy technician activities and functions for community or physician dispensing program.
Order, receive and maintain accurate medication inventory.
Assist with routing and release of prescriptions to the appropriate pharmacy.
Properly label and fills prescription drugs.
Acts as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning basic pharmaceutical information to achieve positive patient outcomes
Assist the pharmacist in billing pharmaceuticals.
Accurately prepares floor stock orders and refill all kits.
Performs inspections of all pharmacy and all clinical areas where medications are stored and submits audit report to the appropriate individual.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Your qualifications should include:
High School or equivalent or Post High School vocational/specialized training or Graduation from a foreign school of Pharmacy
3 or more years of performing related duties as a pharmacy technician
Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy
Graduate from a Pharmacy Technician training program, preferred
Certified Pharmacist Technician (CPhT) from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), preferred
