Pay Rate: $40.1 - $66.97 per hour

The Biomedical Engineering Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the biomedical equipment maintenance program, ensuring the reliability and safety of medical devices across the healthcare facility. This role involves supervising a team of Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETs), coordinating preventive maintenance schedules, managing equipment repairs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The supervisor collaborates with clinical staff, vendors, and hospital management to optimize the performance and availability of critical medical technology.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of BMETs, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.

  • Delegate and oversee daily maintenance tasks, repairs, and equipment inspections to ensure timely completion.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for a wide range of medical devices, including patient monitors, imaging systems, surgical equipment, and life-support devices.

  • Monitor maintenance activities and ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.

  • Coordinate with the clinical engineering department to plan and execute equipment upgrades and installations

  • Conduct periodic audits and inspections of equipment to verify maintenance quality and regulatory compliance.

  • Manage the documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and performance checks in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex equipment issues that require escalation beyond standard technician capabilities.

  • Serve as a technical resource for the BMET team, offering expertise and guidance on difficult or unusual problems.

  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers for technical support and resolution of equipment issues under warranty.

  • Oversee the inventory of spare parts, tools, and testing equipment, ensuring availability for routine and emergency repairs.

  • Manage equipment procurement, service contracts, and budget planning for the biomedical department.

  • Monitor and control expenses related to maintenance activities, seeking cost-effective solutions.

  • Facilitate regular communication with department heads and clinical users to address equipment needs, updates, and concerns.

  • Coordinate ongoing training and certification opportunities for BMET staff to ensure skill development and compliance with industry standards.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Associate degree in biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field

  • 5 years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician

  • 2 years in a supervisory or lead role

  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or equivalent certification

  • Proficiency in using CMMS software for maintenance management.

  • Valid Driver’s license

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Manufacturer-specific training or certification

Additional Information:

Job Status: Full time, exempt

Salary range $83,412 - $139,298
