Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Medical Director, examines, dissects and performs gross dictation and description of surgical specimens, photographs surgical specimens, assists with the procurement of tissue for the Tissue Bank.
The successful candidate:
Must be able to work onsite Monday-Friday 9:30a-6:00p
Plan, organize, and oversee non-medical operations within the pathology laboratory
Support the Medical Director in daily lab operations, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal resource utilization
Perform and assist with surgical pathology procedures, including frozen sections (tissue selection, cutting, staining, and imaging) in accordance with turnaround standards
Coordinate with surgical and interventional radiology schedules to ensure timely specimen handling and analysis
Assist with tissue procurement and collaborate with the Tissue Bank Coordinator to maintain proper processes and relationships
Manage and maintain IRB research protocols, including renewals, amendments, and new study submissions
Lead and support quality improvement initiatives, including data collection, statistical analysis, and performance monitoring across pathology services
Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality assurance standards
Communicate findings and performance metrics to laboratory leadership and support continuous process improvement
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
Requires a master’s degree from a NAACLS accredited PA program with an ASCP certification and fellow
status membership in the AAPA OR requires a degree from a NAACLS accredited PA program, bachelor’s
degree acceptable, master’s degree preferred, ASCP certified or eligible for certificationPathologists’ Assistant (PA) certification required
