Pay Rate: $50.24 - $83.91 per hour

This position works on-site Monday through Friday in Duarte and outside of business hours as needed.

The Manager, Occupational Safety and Health works cooperatively with all levels of management across the COH Enterprise to ensure compliance with CAL/OSHA regulations, Joint Commission Environment of Care standards, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid requirements, and other regulatory mandates. Assists the Director in assuring a safe and healthful environment for employees, patients, contractors, vendors, and visitors within the City of Hope enterprise across all facilities spanning a footprint of more than 4,200 square miles. Responsible for supervision of Occupational Safety and Health specialists and is responsible for managing all general safety programs, projects, and initiatives.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Assist with the Management of the City of Hope (COH) Occupational Safety and Health Program to promote compliance with regulations and standards. 

  • Direct activities related to general safety goals and objectives of the Occupational Safety and Health Department for promoting safety across the COH Enterprise at all locations.

  • Assist in the creation, review and implementation of occupational safety and health policies and procedures.

  • Assist in the management of hazard surveillance to effectively monitor the COH work environment and to recommend necessary corrective actions. 

  • Assist to implement, update and deliver safety training programs.  Develops and participates in safety education programs for new employees, volunteers and staff including, students, post-graduates, MDs and in the continuing education for all employee and staff. 

  • Participate in accident investigations with the objective of preventing recurrence. 

  • Respond to employee concerns about suspected unsafe or unhealthful conditions.  Respond to potential life-threatening emergencies.

  • Manage the Safe Patient Handling program at COH.

  • Manage the Ergonomic program at COH.

  • Manage the Injury Reporting, Investigation, Trending, and Preventative Action program for COH.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field.

  • Four years in safety/industrial hygiene field.

  • 2 years in Ergonomic safety.

  • Substantial experience providing safety training.

  • Management experience required, preferably in a healthcare and/or research setting.

  • Program management experience.

  • Hazardous waste management experience.

Additional Information:

Job Status: Full time, exempt

Salary range $104,509 - $174,530
