The successful candidate:

The Lead Interventional Radiology Technologist is an experienced laboratory professional who performs diagnostic tests and also takes on supervisory and administrative responsibilities, such as overseeing daily laboratory operations, training new staff, ensuring quality control, coordinating with reference labs, and serving as a technical resource for other technologists.

In addition to existing role as an Lead Interventional Radiology Technologist for their designated modality, this individual will assist leadership in the implementation of Imaging department policies, procedures, and services for assigned modalities which include Nuclear Medicine, MRI, Diagnostic Radiology, Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, Positron Emission Tomography, Angiography/Special Procedures, Mammography, PACS, Nursing and administrative areas.  

  • Ensures efficient and effective departmental operations. Familiar with a variety of the department’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Assists in coordinating the department’s Quality Program in collaboration with the Manager/Director. 

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.

  • Directs the work of others as required. Responsible for the maintenance of efficient scheduling, patient flow and quality assurance, as well as having alertness for fiscal soundness within assigned areas of responsibility. 

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Assists in ensuring PACS data integrity.

  • Oversees assigned imaging service areas, schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for assigned radiologic services.

  • ACR, Physics and other required stakeholder education and quality control for given modalities/areas as needed to remain in compliance.

  • This position requires initiative, the ability to make independent judgments and a consistent positive attitude. 

  • Must be able to communicate well with physicians, patients, families, and ancillary hospital personnel.

  • Will participate in performance improvement initiatives. 

  • Will assist with other activities as deemed necessary for the day-to-day operation of the department.

  • May participate in the training and orientation of other stakeholders.

  • Will be actively involved in data and quality metric retrieval and presentation.

  • On Call responsibilities as well as carious staffing and modality scheduling with oversight from management.

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Education Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent. 

  • BS/BA in healthcare related field is desirable but not required.

  • ARRT/ARDMS/CNMT or another applicable registry/licensure required in designated professional area.

  • American Heart Association BLS required

Minimum Experience Level

  • Minimum of 5 years applied work experience in with exposure to all aspects of patient care within an Imaging Department.

  • Cross training in multiple modalities is desirable.
