Pay Rate: $79.08 - $132.06 per hour

The Executive Director of Emerging Opportunities is responsible for enterprise-wide functions related to growth and innovation.  Take a leadership role in strategic portfolio oversight, lead investment due diligence, and guide ventures from business case to market success, balancing risk management with aggressive growth targets, identifying, incubating, and developing new opportunities to partner with strategic stakeholders across the healthcare marketplace. Partnerships with these organizations may include licensing (excludes drug, device, diagnostics), joint-launch, acquisitions, commercialization, etc. secured through varying types of business structures and legal agreements.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Portfolio Management: Provide day-to-day oversight of the Emerging Opportunities & Ventures portfolio, identifying opportunities for expansion, margin growth, and synergies which align with the organization's strategic development goals

  • Due Diligence: Evaluate opportunities through comprehensive market, competitive, and risk analysis, supported by business and financial modeling

  • Financial Strategy: Develop financial models, structure deals, and optimize capital allocation for proposed business development initiatives, communicating proposals to obtain executive leadership and Board support

  • Venture Operations: Guide portfolio companies from business case to integration and commercialization, working with leadership to explore, frame, and operationalize partnership strategies (i.e., acquisitions, partnerships, investments, licensing, and other strategic growth opportunities).

  • Team Supervision: Build and manage venture teams, fostering entrepreneurial culture with governance standards, analyzing industry dynamics and competitive landscape for opportunities in key growth markets and regions.

  • Partnership Evaluation: In conjunction with Solution Development, identify strategic partnerships to accelerate growth, preparing and overseeing the development of business plans assuring their accuracy and comprehensiveness.

  • Performance Reporting: Establish KPIs, report on performance trends, and recommend strategic adjustments, working cross-functionally to ensure the success of enterprise priority initiatives and activities.

Your qualifications should include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 10 years of experience in strategy, consulting, innovation, business development, product management, partnership development, or similar practical experience in the healthcare sector.

  • 7 years of experience in management.

  • City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.

  • MBA or Master's degree preferred.
