DIVISION CHIEF - BREAST MEDICAL ONCOLOGY AND DIRECTOR OF WOMEN'S CANCERS PROGRAM - 10018922

Division chief of breast medical oncology and Director of women’s cancers program

City of Hope has launched a national search for a Division Chief of Breast Medical Oncology and Director of the Women’s Cancers Program (Leader). This Leader will be a highly regarded physician and funded investigator with a collaborative, team-based leadership style, and the ability to leverage and grow our existing nationally recognized breast medical oncology and Women’s Cancers Program. He/she must also be operationally savvy, with the business acumen and cultural sensitivity to lead within a complex, matrixed environment having direct reporting to the Chair of Medical Oncology, but also collaborating across the disciplines of breast surgery, radiation oncology, pathology and gynecological oncology/surgery.  The Leader must possess a breadth of skills, including demonstrated ability to drive research productivity; deep knowledge of clinical practice; a strong commitment to training and career development faculty and trainees; and demonstrated leadership and administrative ability in the clinical enterprise. 

There are specific priorities that City of Hope seeks from the Leader to deliver with an overall objective of elevating the Women’s Cancers Program nationally. The following are of particular importance:

  • Provide broad vision and leadership to Women’s Cancers in research and clinical care delivery throughout the enterprise that will further advance our reputation and delivery of care on the national stage
  • Expand and scale clinical trials and translational research to patients throughout City of Hope enterprise
  • Drive and standardize care pathways achieving superior quality delivering excellence in patient outcomes, patient experience and utilization metrics.
  • Integrate throughout the enterprise and expand our signature breast program by recruiting high caliber physicians and physician scientists creating market differentiation and excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • National reputation as a physician and clinical or translational researcher in breast cancer  as evidenced by strong, funded research history and publications in H-Index journals
  • Preferably previous leadership experience in an academic setting, NCI and/or national academy/society
  • Possess scholarly accomplishments to qualify at the rank of Associate Professor orProfessor with a minimum of 8 years post-fellowship
  • Outstanding clinician with an impeccable reputation and successful track record of high-quality clinical outcomes
  • Experience in the development and conduct of clinical trials and proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary research teams
  • Deep understanding of quality and performance improvement, compliance with regulatory and accreditation guidelines, and utilization management, with the ability to design and implement improvement programs and experience serving on health system or academic medical center medical staff or departmental committees
  • Progressive administrative/management experience, preferably in an academic medical center setting
  • Demonstrated ability leading highly trained physicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet strategic goals
  • High levels of integrity and honesty
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Collaborative, adaptable, flexible to change and ability to lead teams through change
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including relationship-building, communication, listening, and negotiation diplomacy

Salary Range:  $300K - $650K. The range listed is exclusively for base compensation for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits.  Actual compensation will be adjusted for experience, training, hospital/community need and other factors.

education, Licensure and Certifications

  • M.D. OR D.O. from an accredited educational institution and boarded in respective specialty
  • Preferably, fellowship training and boarded breast oncology specialty 
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, unrestricted medical license in the State of California
  • Visa sponsorship available
