Pay Rate: $38.96 - $132.16 per hour

A Staff Scientist is available in the lab of Dr. Sarah Shuck. You will provide scientific leadership for an NIH-funded research program investigating metabolic DNA damage as a driver of prostate cancer progression. You will also oversee the execution of the R01 research plan, coordinate multiple projects, and ensure timely completion of experimental milestones while working closely with the Principal Investigator.
As a successful candidate you will:
- Lead and coordinate all scientific activities associated with the NIH R01 project.
- Develop experimental strategies and oversee execution of complex molecular, cellular, and animal studies.
- Supervise and mentor research personnel, including postdoctoral fellows, research associates, graduate students, and trainees.
- Coordinate collaborations with institutional core facilities and external collaborators.
- Analyze and interpret complex experimental data using rigorous statistical approaches.
- Prepare manuscripts, grant applications, progress reports, and presentations.
- Ensure project milestones are achieved on schedule and maintain compliance with institutional and federal research requirements.
- Assist the Principal Investigator with strategic planning, laboratory management, and development of new research initiatives.
Your qualifications should include:
- Ph.D. in cancer biology, molecular biology, metabolism, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience with demonstrated scientific productivity.
- Strong background in cancer biology, metabolism, molecular biology, and animal models.
- Proven experience managing complex research projects and mentoring scientific personnel.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and scientific writing skills.
