The Senior Category Manager is responsible for developing and driving category specific strategies in their assigned category with a focus on "best value" and Total Cost of Ownership. Acting on own initiative, this position is responsible for driving strategic sourcing best practices, including RFx activities, establishing/maintaining supplier partnerships, and identifying supply risks and opportunities. Must be solution-focused, analytical, and have a strong bias for decision making rooted in data and analytics. Being comfortable with presenting data to stakeholders to promote the sourcing strategy is vital. The Senior Category Manager will be part of a Strategic Sourcing team at a very well established, world-class cancer research and treatment organization.

Job Summary:
The Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing and category strategies with a strong focus on healthcare supplies and medical‑surgical (Med‑Surg) products. This role optimizes pricing, quality, service levels, and total cost of ownership while partnering closely with clinical and operational teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead sourcing and category management for Med‑Surg and other healthcare supply categories.
Conduct RFx events, supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and cost analysis.
Monitor market trends, supply risks, and sourcing opportunities to support clinical operations.
Partner with Purchasing Operations and Materials Management to resolve supply shortages and improve supply continuity.
Collaborate with clinical teams to support standardization initiatives and product evaluations.
Maintain category roadmaps and develop cross‑functional sourcing strategies.
Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, transparency, and cost savings.
Vendor Management:
Implement and manage service level agreements (SLAs) and supplier KPIs.
Conduct quarterly supplier performance reviews with internal stakeholders.
Ensure suppliers comply with procurement policies, clinical standards, and industry best practices.
Strengthen supplier relationships and support Supplier Diversity goals.
Qualifications:
Five (5) or more years of experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, consulting, or related functional roles, ideally within healthcare.
Experience in healthcare supply chain or sourcing roles, with Med‑Surg experience strongly preferred.
Strong negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and operational teams.
Proficiency in Excel, analytics tools, contract management, and cost‑analysis techniques.
Skills:
Intermediate to Advance at Microsoft Excel
Familiar with ERP or MRP systems
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving and project‑management skills.
