- Set up equipment and medications and administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; charts treatment, response, and progress.
- Observe patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds.
- Record observations and services and completes patient records.
- Respond and assists with basic life support in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation emergencies.
- Participate in fire, safety and other training programs conducted within and outside of the medical center.Maintains current CPR card.
- Perform EKGs and arterial blood gases.
- Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance, safety.
- Assesses and documents patients’ condition on ventilators to include ETT tube placement, cuff pressure (if appropriate), breath sounds, respiratory effort, color and any noted treads in secretion, pressures, etc.
- Assesses and documents patients who are receiving respiratory treatments prior to and after treatment.
- Assesses and provides patient and family education for every patient who received initial treatment, 02 therapy, procedure, or placed on ventilator.Evaluate patient’s or family members’ responses on the new interdisciplinary patient and family education flow sheet.
- Education, as required for certification and licensure
- 5 years Respiratory Therapist experience.
- California Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RCP)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) American Heart Association
