Pay Rate: $24.27 - $31.61 per hour

We’re in search of a Research Support Technician - Animal Breeding to join our Animal Care Program team.

The Research Support Technician is responsible for performing tasks and procedures associated with managing the production of research animal breeding colonies, including mating, weaning, animal identification, tissue biopsy, data collection, and communication with researchers using these services.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Monitor animal health and report any signs of illness or distress.

  • Maintain clean cages, ensure food and water availability, and support overall animal well-being.

  • Follow breeding plans, wean and separate litters, perform tissue biopsies, and animal identification.

  • Accurately document breeding and husbandry activities; respond to researcher inquiries.

  • Monitor and report environmental conditions and equipment issues in animal rooms.

  • Clean and sanitize animal holding areas and support spaces regularly.

  • Perform weekly animal census, reconcile discrepancies, and manage animal transfers.

  • Assist with procedures including restraint, sample collection, and humane euthanasia.

Your qualifications should include

  • High School or equivalent.

  • No animal breeding experience required; 2 or more years of experience working in a laboratory animal care or veterinary technician position or related field.

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • AALAS ALAT certification (or obtained within 12 months of hire).
