The successful candidate:
Assists physicians by providing pre-procedural, intra-procedural, and post-procedural care with special procedures in the lab. Accurately & promptly implements physician's orders, scrubs (if trained), circulates, and records all cases performed in the lab, and assists with the immediate recovery of patients. Ensures accurate hand off to recovering area and assists in transferring patients to other hospitals directly from the lab, if necessary. Provides nursing support in other areas as needed and remains competent.
Required Qualifications
Telemetry Skills: Ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias and initiate appropriate interventions.
Moderate Sedation Competency: Skilled in monitoring and administering moderate sedation during IR procedures.
Post-Procedure Recovery: Capable of recovering MAC/local patients when PACU is not available.
Education & Licensure: Graduate of an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited School of Nursing and licensed in Illinois.
BLS Certification: Must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
ACLS Certification: Must be obtained upon hire or by the end of the orientation period and maintained while in the position.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
Ultrasound guided IV insertion/Phlebotomy experience
Oncology Certified (OCN)
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
Labels specimens properly and takes to area for transfer to Lab
Knowledge of appropriate anatomy, particularly peripheral anatomy
Knowledge of coronary and peripheral blood vessels and blood flow (venous and arterial)
