Join Our Team as a Senior Research Development ScientistWe’re seeking a skilled scientific writer to support high-impact research through the development and editing of grant proposals, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and other scientific documents. This role collaborates closely with researchers across the institution to enhance extramural funding applications—including complex team science initiatives and Cancer Center Support Grants—and maintain proposal templates and boilerplate content.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Review and edit grant proposals (e.g., R01s), ensuring scientific clarity, technical accuracy, and alignment with funding agency requirements.
- Collaborate with faculty to design and prepare new research projects for funding, including identifying suitable grant opportunities.
- Assist in the development and integration of multi-project grant proposals and large scientific reports, ensuring coherence and scientific rigor.
- Facilitate team collaboration during the preparation of both individual and multi-investigator grant submissions.
- Enhance clarity, accuracy, and visual appeal of data presentation, including formatting and figure refinement.
- Develop deep knowledge of institutional research priorities, attending seminars, symposia, and retreats to stay informed.
- Lead educational workshops and courses on grantsmanship and scientific writing for faculty and researchers.
- Support the preparation of institutional scientific documents, templates, and standardized text for research proposals.
Your qualifications should include:
- PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with 5 years of experience in experimental design, scientific writing/editing, or clinical study design.
- Strong background in healthcare, research, or academic environments, with familiarity in data analysis, graphing, and interpreting lab/clinical data.
- Preferred experience includes NIH/DOD grant writing and involvement in therapeutic clinical trials.
