The successful candidate:

  • This is a PRN position.

  • Assess the respiratory needs of patients and works closely with physicians, nurses, and other health care team members to administer all respiratory care procedures that provide the maximum therapeutic and diagnostic benefit to the patient.

  • Recognize the indications, contraindications and equipment for basic respiratory therapies, including oxygen, aerosolized medication, humidity, volume expansion, secretion clearance and arterial blood gas sampling, analyzer and machine maintenance.

  • Understand the indications and contraindications and equipment for ventilator support, including non-invasive and volume ventilators - set up, check functionality and clean all types of ventilators.

  • Ability to document verbal order, assessments, teaching interventions and therapy notes in the medical and departmental electronic medical record. Is able to intervene appropriately based on changes in patient status. Notifies appropriate RN and MD.

  • Perform as a member of the Rapid Response and Code Team. Duties to include all phases of airway management, ABG draws, CPR, EKG, and ventilator support when needed.

  • Perform 12 lead EKG’s, knows correct lead placement and able to recognize artifact and ominous findings.​

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Current Georgia license as a Respiratory Therapist (or eligible for immediate Georgia licensure)

Minimum Experience

  • 1 year of hospital experience preferred

  • Ability to perform EKG’s is required

  • Experience with PFT’s and/or bedside spirometry strongly preferred, but not required

Required Certification/Licensure 

  • BLS/CPR and ACLS required.

  • Must hold an active license through the Georgia Medical Composite Board

  • Must hold an active RRT certification through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
