Position Summary:The Health Information Management Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of electronic health records that directly support patient care and revenue cycle operations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA, regulatory standards, and organizational policies.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Review medical records for completeness and accuracy in compliance with regulatory standards
- Assign and track record deficiencies to clinicians for timely completion
- Support providers with documentation completion and respond to inquiries
- Manage release of information (ROI) requests from patients, attorneys, and third parties
- Monitor compliance with medical staff bylaws and regulatory requirements
- Perform document scanning, indexing, and quality assurance for electronic records
- Conduct audits and ensure data integrity across patient records and systems
- Support coding and billing processes through charge capture and account review
- Maintain referring provider data and support continuity of care systems
- Collaborate on system upgrades, testing, and special projects
Your qualifications should be:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of three (3) years of medical records experience
- Strong knowledge of medical record processing, release of information, and charge capture
- Understanding of Title 22, CMS, Joint Commission, and HIPAA regulations
- Proven ability to manage sensitive information with accuracy and confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
