Pay Rate: $92.4 - $154.31 per hour

At City of Hope, the Director, Managed Care Program plays a critical leadership role as a key driver of the organization’s long‑term financial sustainability and continued patient access. This leader will plan and execute managed care contracting strategies, develop innovative payer relationships, and support City of Hope’s expanding national footprint. You will partner closely with executive leadership to achieve budgeted net patient revenue goals while helping position City of Hope as a premier destination for advanced oncology care. As a managed care subject‑matter expert, you’ll guide payer strategy, develop new payment models, and expand market share across City of Hope’s medical center, foundation, and growing community sites.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Provide executive oversight of managed care operations and lead the day‑to‑day activities of the Managed Care team across assigned markets
  • Lead and support payer contract negotiations, serving as the relationship owner for key payer partners
  • Develop and execute payer strategies that align with enterprise growth, patient access, and community expansion initiatives
  • Drive revenue optimization through contract compliance, issue resolution, settlements, and escalation strategies
  • Partner with Decision Support and Finance to monitor performance, identify revenue lift opportunities, and renegotiate contracts as needed
  • Lead the development of new and innovative payment models to attract non‑contracted health plans, IPAs, and employer groups
  • Maintain Center of Excellence designations by overseeing key clinical payer survey processes for advanced oncology programs
  • Represent City of Hope externally by cultivating payer, health plan, IPA, and industry relationships while staying ahead of market trends

Your qualifications should include:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Administration, Juris Doctorate, or a related advanced field
  • 10 years of experience in managed care, including directing managed care functions within a healthcare organization
  • 7 years of leadership experience managing teams and complex payer relationships
  • Proven expertise in hospital and physician reimbursement, financial analysis, and contract negotiation
  • Strong executive‑level communication, relationship management, and strategic planning skills
  • Preferred: 15 years of experience at a nationally recognized cancer center or large oncology organization
  • Preferred: Experience contracting for bone marrow/stem cell transplant, CAR T, and immunotherapy services
